Hazelnut-themed menu planned for September 26th 2012


Bruce and Phyllis Hunt, owners of Hunt's Hazelnuts, will be the Featured Guests at Dinner at the Rafns' on September 26th. Located in Gervais, Oregon, Bruce and Phyllis tend 30 acres of filbert trees. Their products can be found at Salem Public Market every Saturday.

Our dinner on September 26th will feature 4 delicious courses, each using hazelnuts in a different way. We hope you can attend!

- Roasted Root Vegetable Soup -
with hazelnut toast and Full Circle Creamery queso fresco

- Local Antipasto -
whole roasted hazelnuts, Fairview Farm chevre, pickled vegetables, McK Ranch beef jerky

- Heritage Farms Pork -
tender pork meatballs, rosemary, mushrooms, savory cream sauce, hazelnut "pesto"

- Chocolate and Hazelnut Trio -
Fair Trade chocolate cake, hazelnut "energy" bar, hazelnut Toll House cookies

APRIL 21, 2013 We would like to thank all those who attended our dinner last Thursday. We had another packed house and it sounds like everyone enjoyed the food and company. The ingredients used in this meal were sourced from a handful of local farmers and artisans. The potatoes in the soup were from Teal Creek Farms ; those tasty little cheese curds were made by Full Circle Creamery ; the pork was raised by Rain Shadow El Rancho ; and the goat cheese was hand crafted by the kind folks at Fairview Farm Goat Dairy . We hope you'll patronize these fine businesses. Without them, Dinner at the Rafns' would not be possible.
