Rain Shadow El Rancho featured on October 10th 2012


Karen and Joe Schueller, owners of Rain Shadow El Rancho, will be the Featured Guests at Dinner at the Rafns' on October 10th. The Schuellers raise buffalo, duck, chicken, rabbit, eggs, and pork in Scio, Oregon. Their on-site poultry processing plant allows them to butcher their own birds, along with those from nearby farms.

Our dinner on October 10th will include buffalo, pork, and eggs from Karen and Joe's farm. We hope you can attend! Reservations are required.

- Chili Con Cerdo -
ground pork, garlic, kidney beans, crushed tomatoes

dill and garlic vinaigrette, Full Circle Creamery queso fresco

- Buffalo Osso Bucco -
braised buffalo shank, bone marrow sauce, millet porridge

- Pear Custard -
organic cream, pear syrup, spiced pear cake, candied walnuts

APRIL 21, 2013 We would like to thank all those who attended our dinner last Thursday. We had another packed house and it sounds like everyone enjoyed the food and company. The ingredients used in this meal were sourced from a handful of local farmers and artisans. The potatoes in the soup were from Teal Creek Farms ; those tasty little cheese curds were made by Full Circle Creamery ; the pork was raised by Rain Shadow El Rancho ; and the goat cheese was hand crafted by the kind folks at Fairview Farm Goat Dairy . We hope you'll patronize these fine businesses. Without them, Dinner at the Rafns' would not be possible.
